Medicare 101 Recap
Earlier this month, Clay Carroll, volunteer extraordinaire at the Jackson County Department on Aging, provided our community with some invaluable resources to help navigate the puzzle of Medicare. This presentation was especially helpful to those that are new to Medicare or just need to brush up on some of the details.
Did you know?? The Part B Medicare premium is based on your adjustable gross income. Usually this number is two years behind, so if you retire in 2024, your 2022 adjusted gross income will be used to base your Medicare premiums on. You can find out more on page 33 of Clay’s slide deck below.
We have included Clay’s resources below and hope you find them to be helpful, whether you’re a “newbie” or a “seasoned veteran” of Medicare. One thing is for certain – being open to change when it comes to Medicare is certainly helpful!
As a reminder, you should explore your Medicare coverage options each year. Open enrollment for 2024 plans is from October 15 through December 7, 2023.
